Ask three fencing companies how long a job will take and you may get three different answers. That is because no single number of working days fits every property.
Key takeaways
- EasyFence's installation team can typically install approximately 12 linear metres of fencing per working day, which is a rate to plan from, not a promised timescale.
- To estimate the working days, divide your boundary length by approximately 12 metres, then allow for slopes, gates and access.
- Setting posts is the stage where ground conditions show most clearly, so rock or sloping ground cuts the metres completed per day.
- A villa is usually slowed by access, a finca by longer boundaries and varied ground, and a residential community by shared access and approvals.
- The free site assessment sets the schedule for your property, and no fixed installation time is promised before it.
What we can give you is a starting point. EasyFence's installation team can typically install approximately 12 linear metres of steel fencing per working day. That figure depends on ground conditions, access, fence height and the complexity of the job, so treat it as a rate to plan from, not a date to hold us to.
This guide walks through a realistic fence installation timeline for a Málaga property, stage by stage, and shows how a villa, a finca and a residential community each change it.
How long steel fence installation takes in Málaga, worked through on a villa boundary
If you want to know how many days to install a fence, the method is simple. Take the total length of the boundary and divide it by approximately 12 metres. That gives you the working days at our typical rate.

Then allow for what your property adds. A longer run takes more working days at that rate. Harder conditions reduce what gets done in a day.
The best way to see this is on an illustration. Picture a villa with a continuous boundary run, a driveway gate and one stretch where the ground slopes. This is an example to show the reasoning, not a past project, so it carries no metre or day count. The point is where the time goes.
The four stages, in order
Site measurements. Everything starts with measuring on site. On our villa, that means walking the whole boundary, recording the length, marking the gate opening and noting where the ground changes level. Measuring is quick when the boundary is clear. It slows down when hedges, walls or planting sit on the line, or when part of the boundary is hard to reach.
Preparation. Next the site is prepared so the fence line is ready to work on. Anything in the way has to be dealt with first. On a villa, the driveway gate area and the sloping stretch usually need the most attention here, because the fence line has to be right before anything goes in the ground.
Setting posts. This is where ground conditions show most clearly. Soft, even soil is straightforward. Rock, hard-packed earth or a steep slope makes each post take longer to set, and that comes straight off the metres completed in a day. Because the posts define the line of the whole fence, we do not rush this stage.
Fitting the steel panels. Once the posts are set, the steel panels go on. On level ground this stage moves steadily. On the slope, panels have to be fitted to follow the fall of the land, which asks more care than a flat run. The gate also needs fitting accurately so that it opens and closes properly.
So in our villa, the flat, open stretches would run close to the typical rate. The slope and the gate would pull the average down. Without a visit, nobody can honestly say by how much.
That is why the rate is a starting point and not a promise. It describes what the team typically manages, and your property decides how closely your job follows it.
Villa, finca or residential community: how the property type changes the timeline
These are general patterns, not EasyFence job data. They show where each kind of property tends to make the time move.
Villa. A villa usually has a continuous boundary run and a driveway gate. The length is often manageable. The slowing factor tends to be access: working through gardens, around pool areas or across terraces can narrow the space the team has to work in.
Finca. A finca, the rural country estate common inland in Málaga province, often means longer boundaries and more varied ground. Access may be by track rather than a paved drive. On a finca, ground and access weigh more heavily than on most villas, so the working-day count is harder to estimate from the length alone.
Residential community. Here the fence may cover several boundaries or plots. Access and working hours are often shared with other residents. Anything that must be agreed with the community or its management can set the pace as much as the work itself. If you manage a development, tell us early who needs to approve access and times.
What affects the fence installation timeline: ground, gates and access
The stages above show where time goes. This section names the conditions that move the rate away from approximately 12 metres a day, so you can spot them on your own property.
- Difficult ground. Rock, compacted soil and slopes slow the posts, and the posts set the pace for everything that follows.
- Gates. A gate needs accurate fitting, so a stretch with a gate completes fewer metres in a day than a plain run.
- Other obstacles. Trees, walls, drainage, pool surrounds and existing structures on or near the line all need working around.
- Access. Narrow paths, steps and limited working space slow the movement of materials and people.
- Fence height. A taller fence is a different job from a low one, and the day's output changes with it.
- Complexity of the job. Many corners, changes of level or several gates make for a more involved installation than a simple straight boundary.
We have no per-factor day allowances to give you, and we would not trust anyone who offered them without seeing the property.
You may also wonder whether the time of year matters. We do not claim a best season. If you have a date you need the work finished by, say so at the site assessment, and we can discuss timing against your property and your plans.
The free site assessment is where these conditions get checked for your boundary. It is what sets the project schedule for a Málaga property, and we do not promise a fixed installation time before it has taken place.
This estimate is not for everyone. If you need a quick, temporary barrier with no assessment, our service is not the right fit.

The surest way to a realistic programme is a visit. Request a free quotation and site assessment and we will measure up, look at the ground and access, and set out the schedule for your boundary.
We install premium steel fencing from Nerja to Gibraltar, and inland across Málaga province, including Málaga, Marbella, Estepona and Fuengirola. Whether you own a villa, a finca or a property within a community, the process starts the same way.
A word on the guarantee, because it is easy to mix up. The 25-year manufacturer's material warranty applies to genuine ColourFence steel fencing, made in the UK by Climar Industries Ltd. It covers qualifying defects in materials and manufacturing, subject to the manufacturer's official terms, conditions and exclusions.
Installation workmanship is separate. That is EasyFence's responsibility, not the manufacturer's. The warranty is not automatic cover for every issue, and it does not provide free replacement labour.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it usually take to build a steel fence?
Our installation team can typically install approximately 12 linear metres of fencing per working day. Divide your boundary length by that figure for a starting estimate. Ground conditions, gates, access, fence height and complexity then adjust it, so we confirm the schedule at the site assessment.

What time of year is best to put up a fence in Málaga?
We do not claim a best season. If you need the work finished by a certain date, mention it when you request your site assessment. We can then discuss timing against your property and your plans.
How much is labour to install a fence?
We cannot give a figure without seeing the property, because the work depends on the length, ground, gates and access. The free quotation and site assessment covers pricing for your boundary. You can request one through our quote page.

Does the 25-year warranty cover installation?
No. The 25-year warranty is the manufacturer's material warranty for genuine ColourFence steel fencing, covering qualifying defects in materials and manufacturing under Climar Industries Ltd's official terms. Installation workmanship is EasyFence's responsibility and is separate from it. The warranty is not automatic cover for every issue.
Why can't you promise an installation time before visiting?
Sloping or rocky ground, gates, obstacles and limited access all change how much gets done in a day. None of that can be judged from a plan or a phone call. The free site assessment checks them, and only then do we set the schedule.
